Happy New Year! We hope that everyone enjoyed the holidays. We are keeping busy preparing the race trucks for the 2011 Ontario Off Road Racing Association season. Nate is looking to take the Class 7 Championship once again, while Gerry, Josh and Brandon are looking to better their 3rd, 4th and 5th place season points finishes from 2010. Once again, Barb and Steph will be battling it out for the Ladies points championship. Barb has won the points title a few times...is 2011 the year that Steph will take over?

Ontario Off Road Association Hands Out 2010 Awards

Last week, we announced the champions of the 2010 Ontario Off Road Racing Association season. The club held their year end banquet last weekend. The 2010 champions recieved their trophies and cash, a little drinking and dancing happened and the “top secret” awards were handed out.

Driver Of The Year: Jeff Zoskey This was pretty much a given. Not only did Jeff once again win the Class 1600 buggy championship, he won every race this year! Not just the main events, but all the qualifying races as well!

Sportsman Of The Year: Neil Martel This is an award that is well deserved. Neil is one of those guys that is always available to help others out, on and off the track. There has been numerous times that he has been seen working on the competitions vehicle to get it repaired for the next round or giving driving hints to the younger, inexperienced racers. The fact that he won the Class 4 Unlimited Truck championship again proves that he is a great driver with some incredible truck building skills.

Rookie Of The Year: Gerry Monahan finally decided to move from being the OORA headflag man and Bridgeport Off Road Racing Team Crew Chief into the drivers seat. Gerry bought a neat little S-10 and was quickly running at the front of the pack. He ended up with 3rd place in the Class 7 Mini Truck class. Pretty damn good for his first year!

Hard Luck Award: Ray Jennings Get this. Ray brings his motorhome, which is followed by his race car on a trailer. He also brings a cube van as a support vehicle for himself and other racers. Heading either to or from each race, Ray had a flat tire on the motorhome, trailer or the cube van. In fact, Ray had a total of flat tires on his support vehicles this year! He is currently looking for a tire sponsor. If a tire manufacture or store would like to help Mr. Jennings and prove that your tire is the best on the market by having him test them for you, please let me know. I can get you touch with him.

We have heard that class buggy racer Jeff Zoskey completed the 2010 Ontario Off Road Racing Association season with a perfect racer! Zoskey, form the Hamilton, Ontario area, is a young racer that has worked hard over the years to bring home many Class 1600 points championships and even an overal points championship. We have emailed Jeff and look forward to bringing you some more photos and information about Jeff's awesome year! Keep an eye out for a feature article on this champion!

First Race Weekend Of 2010 Photos!

What a weekend! We just returned from the first race of the 2010 Ontario Off Road Racing Association season. Nate Monahan, returning Class 7 champion in our #705 Chevrolet S-10, took the main event races on both Saturday and Sunday. Not to be out down, his mother Barb Monahan, who is also the returning Ladies class champion, also took the win both days in the new #766 Chevrolet S-10.

Gerry Monahan may be a new new driver, but he also the Crew Chief of many race vehicles on the track this weekend. Gerry finished 3rd in Saturdays main race and ended up taking 2nd on Sunday in the #766 S-10.

Josh Cosby finished 4th both days due to a minor carb problem in the #787 Ford Ranger. His girlfriend Steph Worth finished 2nd both
days in the Ladies class.

Rob Sanderson finished 2nd Saturday in the Redneck Express #713 Chevrolet S-10 & 3rd on Sunday.

Some of the most excitement of the weekend was when Barb had a mishap Saturday. She turned into the side of Stephs truck while passing her and took out 2 tires and modified some body panels.
